Blade Repair Tech II (Intermediate Level)

Join the nation's largest infrastructure developer as a Seasonal Blade Technician at NextEra Energy. As a Seasonal Blade Technician you will be the critical front-line to ensure the safe and optimal performance of all wind farm operations. You will primarily focus on the safe execution of field-based equipment maintenance, diagnostics, as well as long-term reliability and profitability.

Additional duties may include:

  • Implementing Operation Safety Policy Instructions, conducting field work in compliance with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) applicable regulations, encourage good employee safety practices, and drive an unparalleled employee safety culture
  • Participating in Business Lean Six Sigma processes and projects
  • Recruiting and developing other technicians for the ongoing development of team
  • Supporting site manager for all phases of timely safety and environmental reporting, financial reporting, and turbine availability
  • Collaborating closely with internal NextEra users to develop and implement operation focused feedback and solutions for planned and unplanned maintenance, improvement projects, development, and financial performance
  • Presenting a positive professional representation of NextEra Energy in the community and with the customer
  • CDL is a plus

These jobs are seasonal. Employees hired into seasonal jobs will be on leave during the months of December and January. Full-time employee benefits will continue during this period of time and employees will be responsible for paying the missed employee portion of the benefits premiums on their first pay check after their return to work.

Job Overview

Employees in this role perform maintenance and repair activities on wind turbine generators. Individuals conduct precision measurements, structural material removal, and repair on wind turbine blades. This job includes performing and leading repairs on Category 4 and 5 repairs with established procedures, which may require judgment based deviation for special circumstances, with engineering consultation and approval. Employees in this role will be qualified in the set up, rigging, maintenance, and operation of blade repair platform and boom truck systems.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Performs maintenance and repair on wind turbine power generation equipment with qualified leader experience
  • Travels extensively with little or no notice within the entire company fleet
  • Performs electrical, electronic, and mechanical troubleshooting; assesses damage; and conducts repairs on structural components of wind turbine blades, as well as maintenance, rigging, and operation of blade repair platforms and boom trucks
  • Maintains all company supplied equipment, facilities, and tooling
  • Provides oversight to other personnel and serves in the capacity of Safety Mentor
  • Participates as a team leader by organizing pre and post job meetings, communicating with site management, and ordering parts/materials
  • Applies a general understanding of all technical and process functions as well as a solid understanding of the Quality Improvement (QI) process
  • Leads daily crew meetings
  • Ability to meet attendance requirements
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • High School Grad / GED
  • Experience: 1+ years OR completion of a technical certificate/degree program
  • Valid Driver's License (NON CDL)
  • Post-Offer Functional Capacity Evaluation

  • Associate's or Equivalent Experience
  • Trade School Graduate
  • Experience: 2+ years
  • Commercial Driver's License
  • Certified Hazardous Materials Manager
