This role will focus on improving manufacturing processes, leading equipment and line installations, and troubleshooting complex mechanical and process-related issues. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and experienced in a fast-paced, batch-based manufacturing environment.
• Analyze current production processes (extrusion, milling, bonding, sieving, small batch mixing, etc.) and implement improvements to increase throughput, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
• Lead capital projects including installation of mixers, extruders, chill roll systems, dust collection, and automated packaging equipment.
• Troubleshoot process bottlenecks, material flow problems, and equipment breakdowns in coordination with maintenance and operations teams.
• Develop and optimize SOPs and process control documentation for batch consistency and operational efficiency.
• Apply lean manufacturing and Six Sigma tools to drive continuous improvement across all powder production areas.
• Work closely with Maintenance and Engineering to support preventive and predictive maintenance strategies for key assets.
• Collaborate with R&D and Quality to ensure new formulations and process changes are effectively scaled to production.
• Support EH&S initiatives by identifying and mitigating process risks involving combustible dust, ventilation, and confined space operations.
• Manage project timelines, vendors, contractors, and commissioning activities for new equipment.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering.
• 3+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably in powder coatings, chemical processing, or batch production).
• Strong knowledge of powder processing equipment: extruders, grinders, mixers, classifiers, bonding equipment, and sieving systems.
• Proven experience leading capital projects from design through implementation.
• Familiarity with combustible dust hazards, NFPA compliance, and dust collection systems.
• Proficiency in root cause analysis and lean manufacturing techniques.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally across Maintenance, Quality, and Production teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills with a proven ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with vendors, suppliers, shippers, and customers.
• Excellent computer skills with Microsoft office/outlook
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with PLCs, HMIs, and automation used in powder manufacturing lines.
• Knowledge of Fiix or similar CMMS software.
• CAD proficiency (SolidWorks or AutoCAD) for plant layout and equipment design support.
